My parents are staying with us for a few days. They are in town because my Dad is going in for surgery tomorrow morning to remove some cancerous tissue. The doctors are pretty sure it hasn't spread, but won't know for sure until they go in. Since Kevin works in the O.R., he will be able to check in on the surgery and be in the room with him. I think that gives my Dad a lot of comfort.
He's really gone over and above trying to ease my Dad's mind, talking with the surgeons on his behalf, and thoroughly explaining everything to him, and just being there to talk it out with him. He's even shown him videos of what to expect in the procedure and shown him what the instruments that they will be using will look like. He won't be scrubbed in on the case, because of it being a family member, but he'll be the last person my Dad sees when he goes under. I think that would be a HUGE comfort having someone from your family being in there with you!
They have to be at the hospital by 5:30 tomorrow morning, so they are already trying to sleep. I hope they are able to at least get some rest tonight! They are hoping that as soon as he's released on Thursday that they'll be able to head back home to the U.P..
I'll be heading up to the hospital after I take Eric to school tomorrow. The doctors predict that the surgery will take between 3 and 4 hours.
So, your prayers would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much!!!
Sorry to hear your Dad needs this op. My Dad had cancerous tissure removed from his bladder just before christmas and they say he is clear now. Prayers for your Dad to have a similar result.
