Snowy Garage Sale

With my guys gone to my parents for the weekend, and a quiet house, I decided to hop in the car and check out the indoor garage sale that I'd heard about on the radio the day before while I was out treasure hunting.

I got an early start and was looking at arriving about 15 minutes before the sale started. That was until traffic came to a complete stop on the expressway! Luckily, I was close to an exit so I got off and tried to find my way around whatever was clogging up the roadway.

The little detour took longer than I expected, and I ended up getting to the sale just as it was opening. The parking lot was packed with cars, and there was a winding line of people waiting to pay admission to get in. There was only one person taking money and it looked like there was at least 100 people in line ahead of me. I resigned myself for a really long wait, but I was very pleasantly at how quickly we moved.

I'm not a fan of paying admission to be able to spend money, but since I had nothing else to do, I decided that $3 was a cheap price to pay for a little entertainment, even if I didn't find anything to bring home.

There was a lot of clothing and general housewares and maybe 10% of the booths were vintage-y type things. I did find a couple of things that needed to come live in my vintage collection, but it would have been just as much fun had I not found anything! I love the thrill of the hunt!!

After the garage sale, I drove north a few miles and visited the Antiques Warehouse. It was a quick zip through, nothing really caught my eye, but you never know what you'll find, sometimes you find your prince, sometimes you kiss a frog!

The drive home wasn't so great, there were snow squalls every once in a while and visibility went down to almost nothing at times. I was glad to get home and be closed in for the night. We ended up with a couple of inches of snow, and as of right now, the sun has come out and melted almost all of it away. My guys made it home safely a couple of hours after I got home from church today, so we're all home and accounted for.

I hope you've had a great weekend! It's back to work tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to my volleyball game tomorrow night!! Have a GREAT week!!!

Happy Hunting!!!

Here are a few pics from my day...I didn't even try to take pics at the garage sale, it was way too crowded!

Dark purple insulator...always on my wish list...

Lovely gray vintage tablecoth

I bought these at the sale...my Mom had the larger one when I was little. I used to make my own "appetizers" or snacks with it when I was really young with cheese and bologna. She'd give me a couple of toothpicks and I thought I was the Queen-lol.

These two are now all settled in with the rest of my collection. Still hoping to run across some charcoal snowflake space savers this summer while I'm shopping driveways!

  1. Gosh I hope your snow is done for the season! I also love the thrill of the hunt and glad you found a few things. I also hate paying to get in those sales, but do it for a couple of my favorites each year. Love the sweet appetizer makers, and balogna memories. :)

  2. I've never heard of charging to get into someone's garage sale. I guess it covers the cost of the radio ad. I like the items you bought!
