So Long 2018

How was your 2018? Mine was fun, stressful, hectic, busy, fun, busy, crazy, fun and sometimes overwhelming. As you've seen, I haven't been blogging very much this year. My job at work changed and with the amount of hours I've spent learning the database that I am the administrator of, as well as teaching other staff to use it, and troubleshooting problems, when I get home, the last thing I feel like doing is sitting behind the screen again. I am hoping that now that it has been fully launched and things are seeming to have slowed down, that my life will get back to normal, and I'll back among the living in blog-land.

I've still been going on adventures and treasure hunts, and even taking pictures just like always, I just haven't been posting them. My phone is filled with all kinds of vintage goodness and things I've never seen before!

Today I spent the afternoon wandering around 4 places. I've been battling a head cold, so I went with my pockets loaded with cough drops.

First stop: Collette's Vintage. This is one of my favorites. It is HUGE and it was pretty crowded today. I saw a couple of dealers clearing out their booths and hauling things to their cars. I think there has only been 1 or 2 times in all the years that they've been open that I've went home empty handed.

Second stop: Memories Antique Mall. I haven't been in a while, and was surprised to see several empty booths. I found a couple of great tablecloths in the linens booth to the right of the check-out counter.

The sun was shining full force today and the skies were gorgeous blue-something rarely seen in December in Michigan. I drove with my sunroof open and sunglasses on. Today was a much needed break to soak in the sun, sing along at the top of my lungs to the radio, and mindlessly wander through aisles and rooms of untold amounts of treasures.

The last two stops were in Fenton at a couple of resale shops. I always stop, but rarely find anything that I can't live without. I keep reminding myself that you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince, and you can't find that treasure you've been looking for unless you get out there and look.

Over the years, I've found so many things, at great prices, just because I was out there looking. My wish list gets smaller and smaller every year, but I still enjoy looking. One part of me just wants to finish the list and check everything off, but another part of me wonders what I will hunt for when I've checked it all off!

Tomorrow we are spending a quite evening with our boys and DIL, junk food, adult beverages, and games! They are spending the night, so we'll have lots of time to hang out together! I've already taken everything Christmas down and put it away...and a few Valentine's things have made their way around the house.

Saying so long to 2018 also reminds me of all of the friends and family that we've lost this past year. Some extremely sudden and unexpected, some we knew it was coming, but it still hurts the same. My heart aches for those left behind and for their loss. My goals/resolutions for 2019 are to live intentionally-trying to make better choices, love more, laugh more, give more and let those around me know I love them-always hoping and trying to make a difference in someone's life.

Wishing you a year filled with lots of laughter, love and great memories!
