I have a great vintage enamel top table. It has 2 slide out sides and a utensil drawer. It is in really good shape, and the slide outs, work very smoothly. The down side? A previous owner spray painted the table apron and legs grass green. I had it in the booth for 2 months and ended up bringing it home today. At first I had it priced at $100, then lowered it after the first 30 days to $75.
Was the price too high? Was it the green that turned people off? Should I spray the green a different color like red or white? Should I try it again in the booth in a few months? Am I stuck with it? What do you think?

Give the legs a spray of white! Leave the red trim...and see how that goes. We just never know what will catch someone's eye.

Yup, I agree with Garage Sale Gal. The green is putting me off - doesn't go with the red.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting me on my blog. I'm glad you did because I'm most excited about your blog. I'm going to have a good rummage through your posts now! Yay!
I agree with Garage Sale Gal, too. Green isn't universally easy for everyone to put into their rooms, but white is. I think it might sell pretty quickly if the green was a nice vintage-looking white.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for your advice! I'm going to get the white paint out and hope for the best!
ReplyDeleteIt's a terrific table, but I vote for getting rid of the bright green. Red, white, or a softer green look be much better.
ReplyDeleteYes, definitely get rid of the green. But, I see the legs are metal, so you should remove the paint on the legs - just in case someone wants to match it to some chairs they might have or want. It looks like the upper part is metal also, but that could go white.
ReplyDeleteI have a similar table with a wood body - I love it to death! Got it for $75 about 5 or 6 years ago. You could easily sell yours for $100 cleaned up.
I like it. I don't mind the green, because it would look especially nice at Christmas. I'd rather it was original, but I also like that it is unusual. Maybe it's just because I LOVE enamel top tables (especially red and white), and I have never managed to find one I could afford!!
