Cold and Windy Treasure Hunting

Yesterday was the last Davisburg Antiques Festival until May. It was almost like someone flipped a switch here in Michigan, the weather went from warm, and summery to cold, damp and dreary. Auntie and I were prepared for the cold and we were also ready for the rain. Last year we got so muddy at this festival that we actually took a picture of our muddy feet and legs once we got back in the car. This year. I took a pic and there was no mud-it started raining as we were heading to the car, so we lucked out!

I think this was the biggest ever festival in Davisburg. It was fun to see all of the new vendors and what they brought to sell!! It was just as much fun to see our old favorites, and some new favorites that we've met this summer at other flea markets and festivals we've visited.

Since I'm not buying to resell anymore, I think my days of hauling my granny cart around are coming to an end. I decided to just bring a couple of bags this time. I didn't miss hauling the cart around, but I did miss it for hauling my water bottle around.

There was a ton of people!! Usually we start earlier that we did this year, so we had to park significantly further away, but it was still a super fun day, looking at, and hunting for treasures!

Here are some pics from our day...

Look how far out we had to park!

Auntie's granny cart, with my polka dot bag sitting on top

Interesting use of old faucet handles/knobs

Big slices of logs for $25 each

Made me think of Spring Blossom Pyrex

Another cabinet that I'd love to own

Vintage/Antique fire extinguisher!

Same vendor that was at Utica

Lunch break!!! Italian sausage

It really started coming down once we started heading toward the car. It didn't slow down the shoppers, there was a steady stream of people going in as we were going out.

Look how empty Auntie's van is...that is a record for us, I think.

Clean pants...no mud like last year.

When I got home, I was chilled from all of the wind, cold and rain...pumpkin is just the thing to warm your insides!

Not my favorite, but you never know til you try, right?

This, is amazing!!! I'm not a big fan of regular egg nog, but this...YUMMMMM!

I forgot to take a picture of the pumpkin Twinkies...They aren't that great, but we found if you squirt a little of the pumpkin whipped topping on each bite---YUM!!!

My two treasures...a full size, hand stitched quilt and a Minnesota hanky, that has seen better days, but it was only $1. Still on the quest to find the rest of the 50 states, keep your eyes out for me! :)

We had a super fun end to the day with great volleyball matches, and homemade creamy chicken and white bean soup!

I hope you are having a great weekend!!! The next big outing on my list is the Depression Glass Show the first Saturday in November...I can't wait!!!

  1. Fun time! I enjoy shopping just for me now and not for resale.

  2. I was flipping through a magazine yesterday and saw where someone had done the exact same thing with old faucet handles except in the shape of a heart!
