I Love Vintage Tablecloths!

I thinned out my hoard collection of vintage tablecloths a few years ago, and sold quite a few of them in my booth while I had it. Since then, I can't seem to walk away when I find one-especially if it is a great price. My friends and family have given me several too.

I  had them in several places throughout the house-mostly in the sun room, and as the sun is starting to come out more and more, I was worried that they might be fading. So I spent a few hours this afternoon, sorting, folding, and relocating them to non-sunny areas of the house. I'm glad I decided to do it, even if it was a TON of work, because I found a few that have suffered because of the sun.

Now they are safely inside of cabinets that won't see any sun, but can still be enjoyed. I thinned them out again, and took out the ones that I'm not crazy about and will add them to the garage sale pile, for sometime early this summer.

This is the newest member of the hoard collection. I love the bright, vibrant colors!

Here are some Christmas tablecloths.

This is a piece of vintage Christmas material. I had it for sale in my booth, but decided to keep it. Now, I'm thinking I should probably sell it.

These are all newer.

These are all states and countries. Left to right--Alaska, Canada, Florida, Minnesota, Las Vegas, Bermuda and Germany. The Germany cloth was my paternal Grandmother's. I think it's from the 70's.

Embroidered dishtowels--these were all gifts from friends.

The animal shape potholders were less than a dollar for all three.

It was a LOT of work, but I'm so glad I did it-besides, with it so cold outside, it was a perfect day to do this!

Have a GREAT weekend!!!

    1. I had them in so many different places I didn't realize I had so many again after my last thin-out. I think I have a small addiction! :)

  3. You will never catch me walking away from a well priced vintage tablecloth! I am not even scared of the stained ones. I have had really good luck getting them cleaned up. The ones that need soaking get put in a trunk then when the weather starts to get nice, I open up the trunk and it's like I got new tablecloths all over again! Isn't seeing things you forgot about the best feeling? I picked up a couple new ones at an estate sale on Thursday and found a Las Vegas on at the flea a few weeks ago. Your collection is beautiful and thank you for making the comments about the sun fading. I never really thought very much about that happening. Now I know to protect my pretties :-)

    Have a wonderful day!

    1. I had no idea they were getting faded, and never suspected it because they aren't in direct sunlight. I was really bummed to find my very favorite one out of all of them had the most fading!

  4. Oh, those pictures are just amazing! I love to get mine out and refold them from time to time, but man it makes my arms tired! You must have been exhausted. :) I've never put mine all together in colors - I may have to try that. Thanks for sharing your collection. It is lovely!

    1. My plan was to open each tablecloth up and take a picture of each one individually, then in groups...you see how long the individual pictures lasted-LOL! It was a ton of work-more than I bargained for when I started that''s for sure! :)

  5. I'm speechless! This is quite the collection. I wanted to do all vintage tablecloths for my wedding, but I have only been successful in finding a few so far that are big enough (and not a crazy price)!

    1. I've found quite a few at garage sales for $1 or less. I guess that saying "one man's junk is another man's treasure" is true-because to me they are a treasure, and I'd never get rid of them so cheaply! Keep checking garage sales, and estate sales-good luck on your hunt!!!
