Friday Fun!

So many stressful things going on with extended family, friends, work, trying to plan a kitchen remodel, trying to plan a get away, you name it! So, when I had a chance to get out by myself and just wander through a few shops on Friday, that's exactly what I did!! It was much needed

There's nothing like a little junk therapy to make the craziness fade away-for a little while at least.

Here are some of the things that I saw:

Less than $30 at Collette's

Looks like repro, not marked as repro...so sad.

This looks way too new to me...what do you thnk??

I visited shops in Fenton, Holly and Burton, wandered around and around, enjoyed myself a ton, but didn't find a thing that just had to come live with me! That's ok, the therapy was in the wandering and the looking!

Hope you have a great week!!!

Up and At 'Em Early Today

This morning was the much anticipated, long awaited flea market in Monroe. It's about an hour drive from my house, and it started at 9am. That meant my junking buddy Auntie and I had to meet at 7:45 in order to get there a few minutes before they opened.

We got there early and the time waiting in line to get into the building wasn't any where near as bad as I thought. It wasn't too cold, and we were within the first 6 or so people in the door!

I only managed to snap a picture of the outside sign while we were there, I got caught up in the wave of people, and had to keep moving, so I made it around the building a few times before we left for the smaller building. It wasn't a very good shot, I was too close, but didn't want to lose my place in line! ;)

It was interesting talking to different vendors/dealers, and I got on the email lists of a couple of them, to find out when their next sale would be. True to our normal M.O. when Auntie and I go out treasure hunting together, we blabbed all the way there and all the way back!

We also made a quick stop to check out the antiques at Swan Creek Candles in Dundee, and a little side trip to Knightsbridge in Northville before heading home. The skies were blue, the sun was shining, we had lots to talk about, lots to see, we both found some treasures...it was a perfect day to end a not so great week. On top of the treasure hunting, my oldest and his gf stopped by for a quick visit, in between a couple's bridal shower for a friend and hanging out with another couple. I seriously don't think my day could have gotten any better!!

When I got home I had a mail surprise...a t-shirt I ordered only a few days ago, and it was here already!

Here are some shots of the things I saw at the shops after the flea market. Click the link above to go to Auntie's blog, she took lots of pics today...you can read her take on what we saw and did!

These are the things that come home with me...you know, because I "needed" more tablecloths!!

These were sold as "Victorian scrapbook cut-outs" I just loved them...they are in a clear sleeve with a sheet of orange paper behind them-they aren't stuck to it. Have you seen anything like it?

We're off now to play some volleyball! The perfect ending to a GREAT day!!! I hope you are having a great weekend-garage sale season is just around the corner!!! I can't wait!!!

The Best Seller Award of the Year!!

A few weeks ago, I big on a couple of snowflake garland Pyrex bowl that were for sale in an online auction. They had a buy it now price and also a best offer button, I clicked the best offer button and the seller and I went back and forth a few times until we agreed on a price-that was a decent amount lower than their buy it now price.

I immediately paid, which I always do...I'm always amazed when sellers leave feedback applauding my quick payment. I never realized until recently that some people don't pay right away. Some wait until the last possible moment, and some never pay at all. That's part of the reason that I don't sell online.

After paying, life happened and things got hectic and busy and I kind of forgot about my purchase. It arrived the other day, and having forgot about it, I had to really think hard about what it could be when I was opening the box.

To my surprise, on top of all of the mounds of bubble wrap, there was a little card in an envelope. I have gotten little notes from sellers before, so I smiled to myself, appreciating that they put the extra effort into saying thank you.

This is what I saw when I pulled the card out of the envelope and opened it:

How's that for customer service!??!? I only wish the feeback section was larger so I could leave a longer review!!

These are the bowls...almost done with this set, only need the little to finish!

My Fire King Jadeite and Federal Collection

My formatting isn't staying how I originally set it in Excel when I turned the spreadsheet into a JPG, so these sheets aren't exactly like what I see on my end, but it's close enough to give you an idea of what I did to make an inventory sheet for my collections.

Here is my sheet for my Fire King Jadeite, non-Fire King Jadeite and Federal...

Other than finishing my Federal sets and finding the elusive 5" Fire King Jadeite swirl bowl, I'm pretty much done with collecting in this category. Although, if I ever run across the Federal daisy bowls, I won't walk away if the price is right!! :)

A Little Bit of Friday Fun!

I didn't think I'd get to any sales or shops because I had a dentist appointment. I had to cancel the appointment twice already, so I knew I'd better keep it. Nothing wrong-just routine cleaning-but I thought if I kept letting things keep me from it, I'd still be canceling and rescheduling by July. Plus, my youngest was scheduled at the same time, and I'm pretty sure he won't go on his own, if I'm not going with him and making him go.

I got a different hygienist this time. I enjoyed having someone who didn't talk non-stop like the one I usually see. I didn't realize how exhausting it was until I had someone quiet. When I finished and went to check out, the receptionist told me that my "husband" got taken back late and was still going to be a while.

I laughed and said, "I think you mean my son.", she was embarrassed, but laughed it off, and said she thought he was older because he is so tall. Poor kid. All his life he's been mistaken for being older because he's always been tall. I can remember when he was three and throwing a huge fit in a store, and seeing some ladies looking at him and me in a disapproving way and shaking their heads. When I said he was only three, but looks like he's eight, they didn't look like they believed me-oh well.

After our appointment, he conned talked me into taking him to lunch. We drove separately because he had to go to one of our local schools after lunch for student observations for one of his college classes. The sun was shining so brightly, and the blue skies were calling my name. I couldn't just go home and do laundry or clean the house! I had to go on at least a little adventure!

I ended up visiting Knightsbridge, The Town Peddler and Town & Country Antiques. It was so much fun! I blasted my car radio and sang at the top of my lungs, all the way there and back! I enjoyed every minute of my mini adventure!! I found some fun things that just had to come home with me too!!

Here are some of the things I saw:

Wouldn't it be fun to have some ice cold tea or lemonade in this pitcher and glass set?!?!

I really, really love old metal carts!

This set is just like mine, except it's more of an ivory color and mine is bright white. Look at the price! I got a super deal on mine-seventy five cents-and I got 4!! :)

I've been thinking about making a memory bottle. Have you ever made one??

$60 for the set?!?!?

So sad!!! I hate seeing vintage Pyrex that is dishwasher damaged!

This was fun to see! Only $40 and you could have a vintage McDonald's uniform.

Is he really worth that much???

This was kind of creepy to me...what do you think??

This guy made me jump about a foot when I walked around the corner and saw him-very creepy!!

Ohhh...what is that hiding behind the big horn?!?!? Too bad it was marked $40!!! I don't need it that badly! I actually found two of them in the same store, but both were priced about the same.

Look at this table!!! I fell in LOVE with it!!! It was wayyyy above my price range, and too low to the ground, but I still loved it!!

One of these days, I'd LOVE to find a lucite purse--in my price range--of course!

I see a spring time craft project coming together...

LOTS of barkcloth...what's a good price for barkcloth??

Look at this with old bingo cards mod podged on the inside!

Sweet little table and chairs!

This looks like the makings of a toddler bed!

I had to laugh out loud when I saw these. I had a pair just like them in the eighties!!!

I love mirrors!

These are what came home with me...

Finally finished this set!!! One more thing off my wish list and added to my inventory!

Now I just need a 402 and this set will be done! I have an extra 403, maybe I can trade for the 402.

I now have a set of 4, and I'm done. Some people don't like clowns, I just love the bright colors.

LOOOOOOOOOK!!!!!!! I found this IN THE WILD!!!! I have been whining for years that I need to get to Canada because I have never found this pattern in the U.S. only online and only from Canada. I found it in Michigan! Along with a tiny little yellow bowl-both for less than I was willing to spend on just the orange one-to replace the one I got a while back that was broken during delivery. I think this is the find of the year!!!

I'm so happy to add this whole, intact bowl to my set, but I'm having a hard time tossing the broken, glued up bowl away. Does that make me a hoarder??

I also found this set of melamine bowls with lids-brand new-not vintage-never used-still had original packing material inside. These I will use, but right now, they look fun on my buffet next to all of my other fun stuff!
