Fun-Friday-Friends-Finds!

I went on a mini adventure today with my good junkin buddy Auntie from Kitschy Vintage. We went to Collette's Vintage in Davison, a thrift store in Davison and Fratz Consignment in Fenton. It was a quick adventure, but it was just the thing I needed to relax and unwind!

I only found one thing that I couldn't live without-at Collette's. It was Auntie's first visit, so I pointed out Gypsy Junk, and Cowgirlz Closet to her, and had a fun time showing her all around. I think I might have even seen Gypsy stocking her booth as I was walking out!

It was fun hanging out and hunting for treasures together again! We used to go together every weekend but the past year or so, we've both been too busy to coordinate very many outings. After our conversation today, I am planning to get moving on my Etsy shop. I set it up over a year ago, but haven't gotten around to listing anything!!

Do you remember the soccer fields, that I mentioned, that are right next to our property line? It seems they are the home field for the school that is part of our church. My youngest son volunteers in the 5th grad classroom on Fridays. Today he found out that the kids all think our house/barn is the "creepy lumberjack place".

Last summer I picked up a man's torso mannequin, tried it in the booth for hankies, and decided it was too manly for froo froo hankies, so it went up in the barn until I could make a display around it for the booth. I forgot about it, but Kevin didn't. He put it in from of the window with a red and black checkered flannel shirt on it.

The kids could see it from the soccer field, and not knowing it was ours got creeped out by it! Ha! So...what did we do? We went to Sally Beauty supply, bought a Styrofoam  wig stand, went to a Halloween store and bought a cheap mask....and changed out his shirt to a tan carhart jacket! Eric also wrote go CCS on the window with window markers!

It is really creepy now! I'm sure we'll hear about it after their game next week!!!

How was your Friday? Did you get out to any sales?

Here are some pics from my day today...
Not your typical antique mall. They have a huge variety of items from new to old to everything in between! I LOVE it! I love the attention to detail most of the booths have with their design and layout. A good majority of booths have names-the one below is Peppermint Patty's.

I loved this idea with the chain and letters!!!

A GREAT re-purpose idea with an old tv tray, and trash can with an old map!

Don't you just feel welcomed and invited in to these booths!?!?!

I took this pic because I have the same dress form shape thing and didn't know how I was going to get it to work in the booth on the long pole and little base. I was afraid it would be too tippy-this seller took the pole and base right off and put it on a table! GREAT idea!!

The sellers at Collette's are very creative with their displays, the prices are great and they even use unique things for price tags-one booth used old tea bag wrappers!

I took a few pictures of chicken/egg related items for a co-worker. He is raising chickens and has caught the vintage bug for chicken/egg things.

 I love this-very clever!

I am still wiping the drool from my chin over this chenille bedspread!!! It was all I could do to walk away from it! Isn't it gorgeous!?!?!? I've never seen one with colors like this. I have no where to put it, so I didn't get it, but I wish I could have justified buying it!!!

We made a quick stop here.

This is what I got at Collette's. I'm not sure what it is...It is really narrow, but has holes-like for ventilation on the back. Auntie suggested it might be a hamper.

This is what I wanted it for!

This is a little needlepoint doily from last weekend at my friend Pam's parent's house. I bought it with the other stuff, I just forgot it in the box with the pots and pans for my mom.

I bought both of these tablecloths too.

 Here's creepy guy...

Here is a shot with the writing on the window showing.

Here is the "holder" (what the price tag called it)filled with old yard sticks by part of my quilt collection. I think I can sell some of these now...maybe if I do it quick enough, I can make enough to go back and buy that chenille bedspread!!!

Hope you have a great weekend!!! Have fun Treasure Hunting!!

If you are in Michigan-take a trip to Collette's-you'll be glad you did!!!

  1. I purchased an old metal wastebasket from an antique mall that was filled with yard sticks so it's funny to see you purchase something similar for the same reason! I love how narrow and tall that "holder" is. It's perfect for what you needed it for.

By the way....your quilts are GORGEOUS! I bought an old feedsack one at an estate sale yesterday. Paid a little more than I normally would but I couldn't help myself.

    Have a great weekend!

  2. I love seeing other dealer's booth spaces and displays! Thanks for all the great pics! I think that cylinder might be a toilet brush holder....(?) Just a wild guess. I've never been to Collettes, but now I definitely want to go!
